My word for 2024 is focus.
One year ago nearly to the day, I did the THREE Method to discover I wanted to write a weekly newsletter.
The newsletter combines my passions, what I’m good at, and is spiritually rewarding.
It’s rewarding to hear stories like Ben Fuller launching a podcast after doing the THREE Method for himself. Poetically, I’ll be his first podcast guest, episode coming soon.
So, what will I focus on in 2024, and how can it apply to your life?
1. VeeFriends
2. My personal socials
3. The newsletter
VeeFriends
VeeFriends is my day job and is a surefire way to increase my skills as a storyteller and Instagram channel manager. This is where I sharpen my skills in running a social media account. Having a following = having attention = your opportunity to do things you enjoy increases.
Working for a GaryVee company is a unique advantage I have to my name. Additionally, the connections I can make with influencers visiting the office are a HUGE perk of the job.
At the job, I’m learning how to give feedback to creators on a small team, which will be a valuable skill set for me as maybe one day I do my own thing. That’s certainly not in the plan now, but at least I’m gaining the skills necessary to make the transition easier.
Personal Brand
My personal socials. This is where I strengthen the relationships I’ve made already, while introducing myself and my interests to people that I’ve never met.
It’s all about posting consistently. You’re one good post away from changing the trajectory of your life.
I’ll take what I’ve learned running the VeeFriends Instagram and apply it to my personal socials, and visa versa.
My personal socials can literally be about what I’m currently doing or thinking. The fact that I work at VeeFriends, live in New York City, write a newsletter every week are unique identifiers I can talk about on social. That’s my unique edge, and i’d talk about that stuff to my close friends anyway,
Newsletter
The newsletter. This is where I take my insights on AI, tech, finance, journals, & interests and turn them into long-form written content.
The newsletter is the place where I foster a deeper connection with people. In the fast-paced world of social media, I’d like to reach the people who take action to better themselves. Newsletter readers set aside time to read the latest happenings in the creator and AI world. They do creative work and either have or aspire to have a side hustle built using their name.
The newsletter feeds back into everything else. As I spend time writing, I’m generating both personal social topics and VeeFriends topics. While I make VeeFriends content, I can turn those lessons into the newsletter. As I talk about my lessons on my social media, I have a place to point the most dedicated followers via the newsletter. It’s a constant cycle with each bucket feeding into the other.
The only thing that’s left to do is the work.
I’m not sure of the exact benefits that all this hard work will result in. That’s kind of the magic thing. As long as I’m meeting people with similar interests on a similar life path, it’s hard to go wrong.
I think all of the above can apply to your life. It took me a lot of experimenting to find a three-part system with each part feeding into the next.
I know I want to grow my personal brand, because attention = connection and connection = opportunity. The best way to do that today is by posting on social media. The other two buckets should do something with the attention that’s outside of social media, preferably a revenue-generating activity for yourself under your own name.
Lastly, I’m excited to share that I’ve updated the home page of The Bleeding Edge to include all the different topics I’ve written about. If you have an interest in any specific topic, click on it and you’ll see all the articles that fit under that topic.
That’s all for this edition! See you next Monday at 7 am ET!
