Years ago, I embarked on a 534-day journey, creating a new piece of art each day for over a year and a half.
I called it the daily poster project.
I was 22 years old and the project was important to me.
During the day I worked at a real estate company and made the posters at night.
I was over halfway done with the project when one day I was presenting data to my bosses.
I forget how the conversation started, but the daily posters came up.
In the conversation, one of them suggested that I should stop making my daily posters.
Honestly, I was angry at the suggestion.
Making a new poster every day was teaching me photo and editing skills that I knew were important for my career in social media.
I also knew that if I ever decided to make art in the future, the daily posters would always go down in my life story as my first real art project.
But more important than that, I viewed the posters as proof of my existence on Earth.
At 22 years old I knew that some of the posters had notes that I intended my future grandkids and future generations to read and find helpful.
In reply to them telling me I should quit, I told the room “This is my life’s work.”
Someone in the room laughed out loud.
A few people looked away to hide their laughter.
Yes, I was young, and yes, having your life’s work at 22 is abnormal but I wasn’t joking.
As I continue down my life path, I believe it’ll be interesting to look back at the posters and see the youth, optimism, and foresight that 22-year-old Ezra had.
That’s why I thought it was my life’s work at 22, and that’s why I think it’s an important coin in the jar in my life’s journey today.
I knew the posters were right for me, just like I knew Bitcoin was right for me in 2017, and working for GaryVee was going to be part of my life journey as well.
Conviction and execution takes you further than taking the traditional path.
The safe route pleases everyone but yourself.
If you know something is right for you, you’re the only person that can make it happen.
You don’t need others to understand.
Just put your head down and enjoy the process of making something wonderful.
Every one of the daily posters is still up on my Instagram if you scroll back far enough.
I’m currently working on better ways to showcase my work like the daily posters, Formidia, and future projects.
I’ll link that in a future newsletter soon, as it includes a whole new art project I’ve been working on.
Paid newsletter subscribers get it sent to them for free. I can’t wait to share more about it!
The break from newsletters every Monday morning was productive and I’m excited to be more consistent with sends!
Have the best Wednesday ever :)
Have the best Wed as well Ezra 🫡
