I’m at my best when I’m putting coins in the jar.
A coin can be making a piece of content
A coin can be a new connection.
A coin can be watching a YouTube tutorial, doing something scary, taking pictures on your phone, catching up with an old friend, reading a book, traveling to a new place, learning something new in a conversation, doing something nice for a friend, doing a good job at work, working out, and so much more.
When you’re young, you’ve only got a few coins in the jar.
But as you go through life, the coins you deposit become more meaningful.
I made a quick drawing to visualize this concept, with each circle representing a coin.
Then, I labeled all the meaningful coins I could think of from my life.
There are a lot of friends, connections, and events that are not included here, but these are many of the formative moments from my jar today.
How the coins on the bottom from elementary school, middle school, high school, and college, influence the coins that get deposited now is the most interesting part.
It’s similar to the butterfly effect.
Had I not learned about computers at 14 years old, I couldn’t have afforded the gaming computer to play Minecraft, which influenced me to learn to edit Minecraft videos, which influenced me to buy a camera, which got me interested in social media and got me a job working in social.
Had I not learned about computers at 14 years old, I wouldn’t have had the technical knowledge to understand how Bitcoin works, leading me to invest in it, which allowed me to go all in on my passions and quit my job, which led to the opportunity to work at ONE37pm, which influenced me to move to New York City, which got me the opportunity to work at VeeFriends I’m currently in now.
All of these experiences stemmed from my natural curiosity to learn how to build my computer at home.
Now and then I like to think of how the coins I deposit today will influence the coins I deposit in ten years.
I think about it a lot with this newsletter.
This has been an incredible passion project so far, and it’s fun to think of the success it will attract by being consistent and pushing myself to grow as a writer and marketer of the newsletter.
Thank you for being a reader of this newsletter. It means so much to me and I hope it helps you in some small way.
What are some coins you’ve deposited recently?
