If you focus on the bad, you’re blind to the good.
My parents visited NYC for the first time since I moved here, and it was refreshing to see how they took in the views of the city.
A normal walk to the subway was a jaw-dropping view of skyscrapers to them.
It reminded me that everyone adapts a specific mindset to life, and if we don’t make an effort to rewire it, life seems to just happen to us.
For example, the job that was once a new and exciting opportunity might give you the Sunday Scaries now.
How does that happen?
You either had expectations going into the role that went unmet… Or how you view the work has changed.
But that’s how the brain is wired. We must bring our own cheer & excitement to life. Otherwise, life just happens to us.
We can choose to embrace change in our lives and turn it into good, or reject the change, and view it as something bad that’s happening to us.
So today, when something happens that you’d normally see as bad, flip it around, and think about what good can come from it.

I just got done watching Jocko Willink talk about turning the bad into a good thing. From the bad or the struggle we learn, adapt, and overcome. What you wrote here further solidifies that mentality. So thank you.
