This Breathing Exercise Improves My Day
I often wake up and immediately do a breathing exercise.
In my day to day, it feels like thoughts and ideas race through my brain at 100 miles an hour. If I go long enough without centering my mind, I visualize the mass of thoughts like a tangled ball of spaghetti.
The breathing exercise allows me to focus solely on my thoughts. It’s time I’ve set aside specifically to unravel the tangled spaghetti so I can enter my day with a level head.
As proof that breathing exercises work, this video has 71,000,000 views.
The exercise is three rounds, a few minutes each.
You’ll take 30 deep breaths in and out, then exhale all the way and hold the exhale for a minute. During that minute, you’ll feel tingles in your body and sometimes even feel the blood running through your veins. It’s a great reminder that our body is a vessel that keeps our brain alive, and we should cherish it more often.
If you’re reading this in the morning, I highly recommend you start your day (meaning today, like right now) with this breathing exercise.
Do your best to breathe in deep, and exhale with force.
Try it three mornings this week and see if you notice the benefits.
If you try it and don’t notice any benefits, here’s what I recommend…
Sit cross-legged or lie down, isolated from others.
Close your eyes.
Include your belly when you breathe in.
Breathe out with your mouth and nose at the same time.
