🔴 Personal Advice From An Olympian, How To Get Rich, Cowboy Wisdom, Stocks & Crypto Down, Desexualize Your Brain, Be Kind But Not A Pushover, & More
After a week (or two) of taking a break from writing, we’re back.
The reason for the break?
I spent time back in my flat, quiet farmland hometown in Michigan with my family.
Today’s edition is a paid newsletter, although two sections are provided for you for free.
Let’s get right into it.
Reminder To The Hustlers, by ezrawithacamera
Reminder to the hustlers, grinders, and go-getters as we approach the last month of a too short, too hot summer:
This is the life you asked for.
You’re probably seeing your friends take long vacations. For many, that’s what the end of summer is for. Trips, vacations, relaxing. That’s the life THEY want.
THIS is the life YOU wanted.
If your current lifestyle is too much for you, that’s ok.
Your happiness should be your number one priority and you should make whatever changes you need. Don’t worry about judgment from others.
If you’ve read this far and want to double down on having a lot on your plate, now is a great time to do so because…
Everyone else is on vacation.
The Champion’s Creed
Years ago I met a man named Jake Herbert.
I was doing college part-time. Young mind. Timid, yet eager to learn.
I was at a Bitcoin meetup eager to show off the computer I built to mine cryptocurrency.

I showed this picture to someone at the meetup. He told me to talk to “That guy down there”, pointing to the biggest, most muscular, loud guy in the room. “He’s looking for someone who knows about cryptocurrency mining.”
He was at the head of the table, well dressed, gigantic water bottle in hand, and both arms stretched wide while he told a story.
I was a bit intimidated. What’s this guy gonna learn from me, a scrawny part-time college kid with a computer inspired by Frankenstein?
It turns out, that guy was Olympic wrestler Jake Herbert. And I talked to him.
We eventually ran a small cryptocurrency mining operation together.
Jake was the person who gave me the job opportunity to do social media for a real estate company. That’s where I learned how to shoot a video. How to edit. How to direct. How to structure an educational video. How to tell a story. How to post on social.
In many ways, meeting Jake is the reason I’m working for GaryVee.
Life is funny that way.
You never know who you’ll meet.
Or why staying up late at night to build a computer from a $21 bamboo shoe rack would be one of the most impactful nights of your life.
So, in honor of the Olympics happening, I asked Jake, the only Olympian I know (so far) for some advice.
I asked him to give members of The Bleeding Edge advice. I told him, picture it like you’re talking to an ambitious 20-30 year old.
Given your life experience as an Olympian and a human, what would you tell my audience?
His response:
Take bigger risks.
Failure is never final.
I want to share The Champion’s Creed. It goes like this.
“I’m not judged by the number of times I fail.
I’m judged by the number of times I succeed.
The number of times I succeed is directly related to the number of times I fail and keep going.”
Jake continues,
The only difference between the white belt and the black belt is the black belt has failed more times than the white belt has tried.
Failure is not final.
A measure of a true champion is how long it takes to get back up. Champions take seconds. Other people take minutes. Hours. Days. Weeks. Months. Years. Some people never get back up.
Giving up is not an option for people like us.
So with that, I want to share some of the most useful things I saved throughout the last month, collected for people like us.
If you’re a go-getter looking to expand your mind, knowledge, and opportunities, you might want to spend the $15 to read the rest of this newsletter.
This is a newsletter I would have wanted to read five years ago.
The Bleeding Edge Plus is a buffet-style newsletter - There’s something for everyone.
There are three sections.
Main course: Things you should know which take the most time to consume.
Desserts: Short and sweet thoughts & tools.
Quotes: Favorite quotes of the month.
Let’s dig in!
